Successful students in AP Language are students who had A’s and B’s in previous rigorous honors courses and have excellent reading and writing skills. Students who have not performed exceptionally well in the past will need to devote extra time and make sacrifices if they wish to pass the class and the AP Language exam. |
Summer requirements include: 1. Take a full-length practice AP Language exam 2. Complete an AP Language glossary exercise 3. Read five novels and complete the corresponding interactive reading lessons. |
Yes. A=5 points; B=4 points; C=3 points, D=2 points, F=0 points |
Students will prepare for the AP Language exam, prepare for the SAT, and complete college projects. |
AP students do essay prompt warm ups, SAT preps, weekly vocabulary, essays, practice multiple choice tests, projects, grammar lessons, and close reading exercises. Students should be prepared to work on multiple projects at one time. |
The students’ goal is to earn a score of 3, 4,or 5 on the AP Language exam so that students may earn college credit, depending on the college of choice. Students who take the class but do not receive a high score on the exam will be well prepared for their college English classes and will benefit from the rigor of the AP course. |
