What do I need for English 11 class?

Organizational skills are need to maintain a journal, complete homework assignments, read literature for discussion, and record class notes.

How much time will be required for homework for this class?

To be successful, one hour of homework a night will be necessary. Note: This is not every class session, which would mean every other night.

What type of literature will we read?

You will read American writers from the Colonial Period to present day genres.

Will we have to do any outside reading?

DoDDS requires 25 pieces of literature read in one school year.

How important is English 11 on a student’s transcript?

Most colleges look at grades 9-11 for entrance into their programs

What standardized tests will I take?

You will be asked to take the Terra Nova test, PSAT, and SAT during your junior year.

What type of writing is required?

You will be required to write paragraphs, journal entries, poetry, essays, literary essays, and persuasive essays.

Will I have to do any research?

You will be taught the research process to include MLA documentation.
