What is Career Practicum?

It is a specialized school-to-career program tailored to the individual career aspirations and goals of an eleventh or twelfth grader.

How does it work?

A student first must declare his or her career goal to the HS Counselor and take the required courses.  The counselor will then determine if a student is to be enrolled.  If the student is scheduled for Career Practicum, he/she will go through an interview and orientation process with the Career Practicum Coordinator before being placed at a work/training site.

How does a student get graded?

Most of the grade is based upon the site supervisor's evaluation.  Maintaining and submitting a monthly time sheet and written reflection is also factored in.

What if my student is not yet sure of what career area they wish to pursue?

The HS Counselor will make them aware of the DoDDEA Career Clusters and Pathways and they can decide which one would be the most viable.
