Yes. No prior experience is required and anyone from 7th through 12th grade may sign up for beginning band or chorus. Only Intermediate or Advanced Band or Chorus students must have prior experience. |

No. The school will provide an instrument if parents sign a Responsibility Statement. |

Yes. Learning to read music is one of the DoDDS-E, as well as the national, music standards. |

The teacher will explain the basic requirements of each available instrument and/or voice part and help the student decide, or advise which would be best. |

Yes. The string ensemble is an extra-curricular activity, so it meets after school, once or twice a week. |

No. The string ensemble is made up of instruments belonging to the violin family: violin, viola, cello and string, or double, bass….also called the contrabass. |

Yes. Currently, a violin and a viola are available. |

Minor damages are repaired by the repair technicians in our DoDDS-E Repair Facility in Mainz-Kastel , Germany . If the damage is beyond repair, or if the instrument is lost, parents will have to pay for the loss. |

Yes. Performing in concerts, or any other special activity, in or out of school (e.g. the General's COMREL, MLK Day, NHS Induction Ceremony, Graduation ceremony, etc.), is an integral part of band, chorus, string ensemble, or any performing arts course. |
