How long is this speech course?
This is a semester course

Who can take this course elective?

Students in grades 9-12

How will speech help me?
It will help you overcome anxiety about speaking in front of a group. You will develop a set of skills and strategies that can be learned and practiced.

What types of speeches will I be expected to perform?
You will be expected to perform speeches such as an acceptance speech, roasts and toasts, farewell speeches, wedding speeches, after-dinner speeches, etc.

Will there be any technology involved?
You will use a digital video camera to tape performances, which will be uploaded onto your individual webpage on the school’s Intranet. An audio-visual presentation of a “newscast” will be produced by you at the end of the semester. As a team, you will produce your own show with news, commercial, weather, and commentaries.

Is there any writing involved?
You will have to write your own speeches and scripts for any performance.
